Fan wins R100k from DStv AmaFanDayz

It was a double delight for Roodepoort-based Mario Jacobs as the Orlando Pirates fan celebrated his team winning the Soweto Derby and him going home R100,000 richer at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. This was thanks to his success as the Fan of the Match in the now-popular DStv AmaFanDayz competition.

At the start of the season, league sponsors DStv introduced the DStv AmaFanDayz Fan of Match campaign, a competition that rewards fans of the beautiful game for their love and support of their teams in the DStv Premiership.

In winning the competition, all the 51-year-old Jacobs had to do was get his match ticket, arrive early at the stadium and then visit the DStv activation zone inside the stadium.

He then signed up with DStv promoters, after which he was luckily drawn as one of the of three participants in a sudden death penalty shootout against DStv stars.

Jacobs scored his penalty against Senzo Radebe (from Entangled on 1Magic), while the other two fans missed theirs.

This was the fourth instalment of the AmaFanDayz Fan of the Match competition.

The first three AmaFanDayz outings were in August, September and October. The goalkeepers used during the halftime competition were the following DStv stars: Hope Mbhele (at Stellenbosch FC vs SuperSport United); Theodore Jantjies and Zikhona Sodlaka (at Cape Town City vs Cape Town Spurs); as well as Luyanda Zwane and Wiseman Mncube (at Golden Arrows vs Kaizer Chiefs).

The next AmaFanDayz leg will be at the fixture between Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday 26 November. This will be followed by the SuperSport United vs Mamelodi Sundowns match on Wednesday 29 November at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
