Sizzling local stories to watch on DStv from 14-20 January 2022

There is so much to look forward to with new seasons, series and episodes on DStv’s local slate in 2022.

We kick things off with the second half of the chilling true-crime series Strangers You Know on M-Net (DStv channel 101), which focuses on the tragic victims of the epidemic of gender-based violence in South Africa. A new season of Afrikaans series Die Byl is here to add more action and drama to your Sunday nights as Colonel Piet van der Bijl aka Byl investigates a new set of serial killers.

On the lighter side, Huisgenoot Blokraaibestes will test your word and blockbuster skills with actress Cintaine Schutte as host. MTV Base (DStv channel 322) is sipping from some refreshing local streams with 3 new series: Newsish, Yo! MTV-Raps Uncapped and MTV Shuga: What Makes A Man.

True-crime series focused on cases of gender-based violence that shocked South Africa. In this episode, the horrific story of Jade and Christopher Panayiotou is retold. They seemed to be the happiest of couples. But when her body was found in a field, a police sting operation revealed the true identity of her killer.

Die Byl Season 4

Huisgenoot Blokraaibestes Season 1

Huisgenoot magazine is looking for South Africa’s crossword champion in this brand-new game show. In each episode, presenter Cintaine Schutte tests 3 contestants’ Afrikaans vocabulary and language knowledge in a series of challenges. In episode 2, contestant Christo Viljoen shows signs of promise as he overtakes his fellow contestants in the first round.
